From the age of 13, Simon Broadribb knew what he wanted to become. A butcher. And not just any butcher – an award winning butcher! Growing up in a family of poulterers and fishmongers whose tradition goes back to the 19th century, Simon’s childhood dream came true in 1994 when he took over Uptons of Bassett butchers in Southampton, Hampshire.

    Award-winning Simon Broadribb beat rival meat producers to claim top spot in a prestigious international competition and hailed it an ‘unbelievable’ win.

    His savoury puddings are so popular he has even been exporting the haggis over the border to Scotland for several years.

    The meat delicacies are so highly regarded that Scots have been known to make a staggering 850-mile round trip to collect their haggis from his Uptons of Bassett shop on the south coast of England.

  • Lamb Rosemary And Redcurrant Pie Large

    This is a pie for 3 ish folks, if you order this pie, it will come cooked, but we also sell them frozen, where the pastry is uncooked but the meat inside is cooked, let us know if you prefer this one.

    Cooking the frozen ones, thaw in the fridge for 24-48 hours, preheat oven to 210c add pie, then reduce to 180c for 25 mins if fully defrosted, when the pastry is brown, its cooked.

    We buy in whole carcases and use the fore of the animal for the pies, cooking the meat for 10 hours over night and making the pies in the morning,.

    We buy local native breeds mostly, but if it good and not so local or not native we still buy it, but always English and always special.

    This is a homemade black pudding. Delicious and perfect for a full English breakfast or to top with pan-fried scallops. Came second in Britain 2021 in the charcuterie live competition.
