Availability: In stock
This pork is totally free range from birth. Half Tamworth pork, half wild boar, it's reared in the New Forest by Colin and Alison Gibson. The breed is called the Iron Age pig; a distinctive looking cross breed first developed for a BBC documentary by Countryfile presenter Adam Henson’s father Joe. The combination of a Tamworth – one of our least diluted British breeds – and a wild boar produced a pig with many of the characteristics of early domesticated animals from the Iron Age period. They can be kept in exactly the same way as other domestic varieties. The main benefit of the breed is that you can produce the distinctive gamey pork without the need for a dangerous animal licence required for true wild boar. They can be kept in exactly the same way as other domestic varieties.
